SJC Issues Updated Order Regarding Jury Trials in the Commonwealth

As the number of cases of COVID-19 gradually go down, the SJC is responding by updating their Phase 2 order regarding jury trials. Phase 2 is expected to last about two months and will see in-person jury trials in the Commonwealth limited to juries of six, in selected locations throughout the state, with limits on the number of trials per day. All trials will be conducted according to COVID-19 health guidelines and Phase 2 will be subject to change as the SJC reviews data. Jury trials may increase in some locations to more than one per day. Priority shall be given to criminal cases in which the defendant is being held.
